New year, new beginnings…

Well, this poor blog has been sorely neglected.  It has been a crazy last few months for my family and for my photography business.  I crammed in as many Christmas shoots as I could, plus the holidays, on top of organizing, packing, throwing out half of our 160 + year old house in order to do some major renovations.  At the end of the day, we survived.  I have realized that if we could make it through the last few months with our sanity intact, we can pretty much make it through anything!  We are blessed on so many levels, words couldn’t even do it justice.

We are one week into the renovations and they are almost done with the “gut” now to rebuild.  Talking with my dad about this process and why it was so important that he dug out the basement and built a firm foundation for the rest of the house to be able to renovated.  Without this foundation, the house would never last another 160 + years.  It brought me back to Luke 6:46-49

Building on a Solid Foundation

46 “So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say? 47 I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. 48 It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. 49 But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.”

With this new year, new (pretty much) house, and new business, I will strive to keep the Lord and his word at the fore front of everything I do.  Allowing my work, my life, and my children to be an image of Christ.  I have struggled countless times to remember these words.  I get so distracted by life and have tended to put my own selfish desires first.  These verses are so powerful! I hope you take a moment to reflect on it and apply it to your life.  I stumble so many times, but am so blessed to serve a loving and forgiving God.  Who else is always there to pick me up when I stumble a ridiculous amount of time?  The Lord, that’s who!

I hope you all have a blessed year!  Thank you for being a part of this journey with me.
