New year, new beginnings…

Well, this poor blog has been sorely neglected.  It has been a crazy last few months for my family and for my photography business.  I crammed in as many Christmas shoots as I could, plus the holidays, on top of organizing, packing, throwing out half of our 160 + year old house in order to do some major renovations.  At the end of the day, we survived.  I have realized that if we could make it through the last few months with our sanity intact, we can pretty much make it through anything!  We are blessed on so many levels, words couldn’t even do it justice.

We are one week into the renovations and they are almost done with the “gut” now to rebuild.  Talking with my dad about this process and why it was so important that he dug out the basement and built a firm foundation for the rest of the house to be able to renovated.  Without this foundation, the house would never last another 160 + years.  It brought me back to Luke 6:46-49

Building on a Solid Foundation

46 “So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say? 47 I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. 48 It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. 49 But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.”

With this new year, new (pretty much) house, and new business, I will strive to keep the Lord and his word at the fore front of everything I do.  Allowing my work, my life, and my children to be an image of Christ.  I have struggled countless times to remember these words.  I get so distracted by life and have tended to put my own selfish desires first.  These verses are so powerful! I hope you take a moment to reflect on it and apply it to your life.  I stumble so many times, but am so blessed to serve a loving and forgiving God.  Who else is always there to pick me up when I stumble a ridiculous amount of time?  The Lord, that’s who!

I hope you all have a blessed year!  Thank you for being a part of this journey with me.

Mr. W

Me and this little guys mom go way back to 8th grade basketball.  We were bff's in high school and even roomed together in college.  I feel so blessed to be able to photograph her handsome son and adorable little family.

Mr. W...

My nephew

Babies are such an amazing blessing.  This little guy was born to my husbands sister and her husband.  He joins the other 2 Jordan boys, who are all sure to cause mischief sooner, than later!  We are so excited for these boys to grow up together and build many, many memories.

Fur babies

What a day!  I have to chalk this day up to one of those not so great days.  However, photographing these pups really helped brighten it up...that is until my camera decided to take a crap.  It was quickly recovered (and it's full functional again...phew) and I pop out my memory card and find these photos...

How can these not give you a boost in the ole warm fuzzies department??

The future Mr. & Mrs.

I had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous pair this week.  I've known the stunning lady since she was little, when her twin sisters and I looked like triplets and were inseparable.  I have watched her grow into the beauty she is today and was honored for her to ask me to take her "Save the Date" photos.

Enjoy...

My first blog

I am so excited to reveal this new adventure of mine....my photography blog!  I am beyond blessed to be able to chase this incredible dream of mine.  Being a full time social worker and full time mom, adding this dream (to my ever abundant plate of things to do) would never have come to fruition without my amazing husband; who helps take care of our children, supports me, encourages me, and loves me.  Words can't being to describe how infinitely grateful I am for him.  Of course, I would never have launched this business if it also weren't for the crazy support and encouragement that my family and friends have given me over these past several months.  Most importantly, I am eternally grateful to my creator and savior, Jesus Christ for blessing me with this gift.  I thank the Lord every day for all the blessings he has bestowed on me.

Do justly, love mercy, walk humbly with your God.  Micah 6:8
